Consumer and Family Conference 2010: Journey to Wellness: Body. Balance. Being.
Brain injury affects the whole person - including changes in the physical, emotional and cognitive areas of their body. This one-day conference is an opportunity for individuals with brain injury, family members and loved ones to participate in workshops and sessions that focus on innovations in the world of brain injury, care, therapy and rehabilitation. Al Newman Joins Walk for Thought as Honorary Ambassador
Two-time World Series Champion and former Minnesota Twins third base coach Al Newman is joining Randal McDaniel as Honorary Ambassador for the 2010 Walk for Thought.
The Brain Injury Association of Minnesota's Executive Director David King says, "“We are excited and grateful that Al Newman has agreed to help represent the Walk for Thought. His experience in the world of sports and his involvement in the community will help us bring our message of sports safety and concussion awareness to a wide audience."
Newman will be on hand at the St. Paul Walk on September 25 to promote "Sports: Play Hard. Play Safe." and speak to participants about the importance of helmet safety and concussion awareness.
The 2010 Walk for Thought will be held at Como Park in St. Paul, Canal Park in Duluth, Silver Lake in Rochester and CentraCare Health Plaza in St. Cloud on Saturday, September 25, with registration starting at 9 a.m. and the Walk starting at 10 a.m. (10:30 a.m. in Duluth).

Upcoming Brain Injury Conferences
North American Brain Injury Society (NABIS) is hosting two conferences in Minneapolis this October.
The first conference is the 2010 Joint Meeting of National Association for Head Injury Administrators (NASHIA) and the North American Brain Injury Society (NABIS), which is a multi-track event held October 6 through 8, 2010, at the Hilton Hotel in Minneapolis, MN. Over 50 nationally recognized speakers will cover a wide range of brain injury topics including medical best practices, rehabilitation, research, life-long living, pediatrics and advocacy. The second conference is the 23rd Annual Conference on Legal Issues in Brain Injury, which will be held October 7 through 9, 2010, at the Hilton Hotel in Minneapolis, MN.
