Unmasking Brain Injury Open House
The Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance will be hosting an Open House for our Unmasking Brain Injury project on Thursday, November 17 from 3 to 7 p.m. at our office in Roseville.

Explore your creative side and help raise brain injury awareness with Unmasking Brain Injury! This community-based project promotes awareness about brain injury through mask displays made by people affected by brain injury. Combining therapy, art and advocacy, each mask will present an entirely unique perspective on life with brain injury and will give survivors, care givers and professionals a voice and the means to educate others of what it is like to live with brain injury.

Barnes & Noble Bookfair
Help the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance raise some money and purchase holiday gifts at the same time. Barnes & Noble is holding a Bookfair where a percentage of book sales will benefit the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance. The Bookfair takes place on Saturday, December 3, at the Maple Grove Barnes & Noble, Maple Grove Crossing, 8040 Wedgewood Ln N. Several authors will be autographing books, including:

Kevin Kling, author of a number of books and CDs, including Holiday Inn, The Dog Says How and Big Little Brother

Angela Halgrimson, author of Lenny the Crow

Mike Strand, author of a number of books, including Meditations on Brain Injury and a selection from Chicken Soup for the Soul: Recovering from Traumatic Brain Injuries

Kate Shannon, author of Hey, Baby, Look!

Duke Pieper, author of I'm Alive

The schedule for the signings will be forthcoming. Of course we will be giving away bicycle helmets and offering gift wrapping for purchases as well. Please put us on your calendar!

Can't make it to Maple Grove that day? You can still participate in the Bookfair. The Alliance will benefit from purchases you make from ANY Barnes & Noble across the country on December 3. All you have to do is mention the Bookfair ID Code #12021747 to the clerk and the Alliance will earn between 10-20 percent of the net sale. Shopping online? The Alliance benefits from online purchases from December 3 through December 8. Just check the box that it is a bookfair order and enter the code. For more information, contact Sue McGuigan at suem@braininjurymn.org. Spread the word: the more purchases, the greater the percentage donated to the Alliance.

Survey for Spouses or Partners with Brain Injury?
There is research about Traumatic Brain Injuries, but very little about people like you and how you have coped with having a partner with a TBI. Elizabeth Fleming, doctoral candidate at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, is conducting a study about the experiences of people whose partner has had a TBI.

If you are interested in participating, click the link below for more information.

www.surveymonkey.com/r/TBIFleming

The total time required to complete the survey should be approximately 15 minutes.

If you have questions about the study or procedures, you may contact Elizabeth Fleming, MA via email or research supervisor Dr. LaRae Jome, PhD, LP via email.
