Final year to contribute to ground-breaking TBI research - Apply for the Midwest Advocacy Project today!
The Brain Injury Association of Minnesota is partnering with the Mayo Clinic TBI Model System in a research study to identify how to best teach advocacy to people touched by TBI to improve their health and that of their communities. This groundbreaking study is expected to advance the science of TBI research.

If you are at least 18 years old and a person or family member/significant other affected by a moderate to severe TBI a year or more ago, you are invited to contact us about participating in this research study.

Rhythm & Roll 2011
Join the Minnesota Stroke Association and Accessible Space, Inc. for an evening of Housing and Hope on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Minnesota Stroke Association joins the Brain Injury Association of Minnesota on Facebook and Twitter
Many of you are fans of the Brain Injury Association of Minnesota's Facebook page – an online community that has grown to 802 fans since it started in 2010. Some of you follow our daily updates on Twitter, which has grown to 579 followers in the last year.

Facebook and Twitter are fantastic ways to keep up with Association events and updates as well as read news stories that concern developments in brain injury around the world. But, they are also opportunities to build an online community.

You may not be aware that the Minnesota Stroke Association now has a presence on Facebook and Twitter as well. It’s in its early days, but growing, and we need your help to make it bigger. TBI Group Meeting, July 11 in Itasca County
Wayne Stoltz, TBI/stroke Sept 03, is starting a series of monthly TBI meetings in the Grand Rapids area and he is looking for your support and participation. Anyone with a TBI or their caregiver is encouraged to come. Meetings will be informal, with the goal of talking about ideas and problems in everyday life: work, shopping, getting around, fishing and taxes, anything participants want to talk about or problem-solve. Groups will set the topics for the next meeting at the current meeting.

Classified Ad: Opportunity Partners/TBI Metro Services expands
Opportunity Partners/TBI Metro Services is excited to announce an expansion of its brain injury services in Dakota, Washington and Ramsey counties. This growth in our West St. Paul office means the introduction of the Vocational Independence Program and career development classes to the area, and a move to a new, larger space on South Robert Street.

Expansion leads to new program openings
Applications are now being accepted for both the West St. Paul and Richfield locations. Programs accepting new participants include:

Community Integration & Inclusion (CII) - Building greater independence in work, community or personal areas. This structured day program focuses on building skills through classroom instruction and community experience.

Vocational Independence Preparation (VIP) - This prevocational program, the next step toward preparing individuals to independently rejoin the workforce, includes career development classes, and paid work training onsite and in the community.

Vocational Services (VS) - For individuals who are work-ready, want to work and are willing to actively participate in the job search.

Independent Living Skills (ILS) - Individuals use this home and community support service on its own or along with other programs. ILS provides one-to-one assistance designed to help individuals achieve or maintain independence.
